Ad Creative for Campaigns

When you're paying per click, the ad is only half the job. The other half is what happens after — and that's where most ad budgets quietly disappear.

The ad's only job

Stop the scroll and communicate one thing. It competes with everything else on the page, and it gets a fraction of a second.

  • One message. A specific service and a specific reason to act now.
  • Readable small. Most ads are seen on a phone. Test it at the size it will actually appear.
  • Honest imagery. Your own work outperforms stock, because it's recognizably real.
  • Minimal text. Platforms often deprioritize text-heavy images, and they read badly anyway.
Where ad money actually gets wasted

The ad is good. The targeting is fine. Every click lands on the homepage.

A person who clicked an ad about one specific service now has to find that service themselves. A share of them don't bother. You paid for every one of those clicks.

Sending the click to a page about exactly the thing advertised is usually the single highest-return change available to a campaign.

Matching the ad to the page

The landing page should repeat the offer in the ad's own words. A visitor who sees the same promise they clicked knows they're in the right place; a visitor who sees something different assumes they've been misled.

What that page needs to do from there is covered in lead generation systems.

Speed matters more here than anywhere

Organic visitors sometimes wait. Ad clicks rarely do, and you're paying for the ones who leave. A slow landing page is a metered expense — see speed optimization.

Measuring it properly

Clicks are what you bought. Calls and form submissions are what you wanted. Attributing those back to the campaign is the difference between knowing your ads work and hoping they do.

Setting that up is analytics and reporting, and it should exist before the campaign starts rather than being retrofitted after the money's spent.

Creative that stays recognizable

Ads work harder when they look like the business the click arrives at. Same colors, same type, same feel — otherwise the landing page feels like a different company. See brand identity.
